The Delta Suites by Marriott is where Jason and I stayed before our Alaska cruise and it’s the first place I’d tell a friend to book. Every room is a suite with a separate bedroom and living area. It gives you plenty of room to spread out.

The staff was fantastic. They greeted us with fresh hot cookies at check in and stored our luggage so we could explore Vancouver before our room was ready. Then on embarkation morning the front desk gave us a complimentary taxi token. That allowed us to get to Canada Place in about two minutes.

The location is perfect for cruise passengers. It’s a 10-13 minute walk to Canada Place or a 2-minute cab ride, and it’s right around the corner from Waterfront Station which means getting in from YVR on the SkyTrain is completely painless. Gastown is a 10-minute walk if you want to wander the night before.

Best for: Couples and families who want real suite space, Marriott Bonvoy members, and anyone who appreciates a hotel that thinks of the small things.

If you’re spending more than one night in Vancouver before your cruise, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia is where you stay. Built in 1927, Frank Sinatra and Elvis both called it home when they were in town. That’s the kind of history that’s either your thing or it isn’t.
