The lobby is decorated with colorful 3D murals and cool sculptures. Even the furniture has a bit of an artistic flair with unique shapes in rich velvets and leathers. Rooms are modern with whimsical chaise lounges and fun art. The floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the Tennessee River and The Bluff Arts District.
You can start your day with a trip to Ama Spa or head to the outdoor pool for a little R&R. After a day of sightseeing (or relaxing), you’re going to want to go to Whiskey Thief, Chattanooga’s first rooftop bar. It’s the perfect spot to sip a craft cocktail while watching the sunset.
After cocktails, head to Whitebird for dinner. This local favorite serves up Appalachian dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. We asked for a spot on the patio and enjoyed the people watching on the Walnut Street Bridge.

2. The Hotel Chalet at the Chattanooga Choo Choo
The Hotel Chalet at the Chattanooga Choo Choo is where vintage charm meets modern comfort – and my favorite unique place to stay in Chattanooga. The property recently received a $19 million overhaul using vintage photos of the iconic train terminal as inspiration. The result is a beautiful space that feels both timeless and fresh.
Each room is thoughtfully designed with stylish details that give a nod to the golden age of train travel. For a one-of-a-kind experience, you can even sleep in a restored vintage train car. (My family had stayed in one of these when I was a kid, so I staying in one today brings up all sorts of nostalgia.) Jason and I booked Car 19 and it was a great experience from check-in to check-out!
Outside, you’ll find charming courtyard gardens and a pool. The Caboose, the poolside bar, is the perfect spot to sip a drink and unwind by the firepits. The on-site restaurant, Elsie’s Daughter, serves dishes that balance comfort with creativity. Stop by for Happy Hour before dinner. Our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga was STIR, known for fresh oysters and craft cocktails. It’s located at the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo complex and the food is absolutely delicious.
The central location makes exploring easy. You’re in the heart of the Southside Historic District, close to local spots like Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery and Frothy Monkey. Whether you’re looking for vintage vibes or modern luxury, The Hotel Chalet is a perfect blend of both.

3. Bluff View Inn
Sitting high over the Tennessee River, Bluff View Inn is a charming spot in Chattanooga’s historic Bluff View Art District. This bed-and-breakfast is made up of three beautifully restored turn-of-the-century homes, each with its own unique character and elegance.
The Maclellan House, an English Tudor-style mansion built in 1889 is the main house. Here, guests can choose the Bryan Room, featuring a king-size bed, gas fireplace, and river views. Or, try the Morgan Llewellyn Suite, complete with a private balcony and jetted tub.
The T.C. Thompson House, dates back to 1908 and features the Mabelle Thompson Suite, which includes a small kitchen and a private parlor—perfect for longer stays. The front porch rockers provide a lovely spot to watch the sunset.
The Martin House, a 1927 Colonial Revival, features rooms filled with antiques as well as a mix of traditional and contemporary art. Its grand front porch invites guests to relax while soaking in the historic atmosphere.

Ok, if you really want to enjoy the outdoors, check out the accommodations at Cloudland Canyon State Park. Cloudland Canyon is actually in Georgia, but a short drive to Chattanooga. The park has dozens of campsites, 16 cottages, and 10 yurts for those who want to do a little glamping.
